POLICIES, MEMBERSHIPS & IMPORTANT INFORMATION

DROPPING OFF/PICKING UP CHILDREN
Please arrive no more than 5 minutes before class starts.  Be sure your child enters the training room with an instructor before you leave.  Students should be picked up immediately after class ends.  IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO PICK UP YOUR CHILD IMMEDIATELY AFTER CLASS ENDS, YOU MUST NOTIFY US IN ADVANCE AND INSTRUCT THEM TO WAIT INSIDE THE BUILDING.

VIDEO TAPING/PICTURE TAKING
Many parents are concerned with privacy issues and Internet safety and do not want their child to be videotaped or photographed.  It is for this reason that videotaping or photographing of our classes is absolutely not permitted!

MEMBERSHIPS
Students may enroll for 12 or 24 weeks.  Payment in full is required at time of enrollment.  Some pre-school memberships are done by session (i.e. Fall, Winter, Spring) but most memberships are based on a rolling admission meaning that everyone’s start date and end date are different.  Membership renewal reminder notices are routinely emailed prior to student’s expiration date.  Membership tuition should be paid on time or before the expiration date in order to avoid a late fee.  Even if you do not receive a reminder notice, you are still responsible to pay for the membership on time.

MAKE UP CLASSES
We allow 2 make-up classes per each 12 week session. If your child misses a class, they can attend a make-up class on a different day before their session ends.  Classes do not carry over to the next session.  If your child is sick or injured for more than 2 consecutive weeks, you will be permitted to freeze their membership by providing a doctor’s note excusing them from physical activities.  There are no refunds, deductions or extensions permitted for routine absenteeism (i.e. other sports activities, scheduling conflicts, etc.) .

REFUNDS
Memberships are refundable only up to the first two weeks of the member’s very first session and are not transferable.  The refund will be for the tuition portion of unused classes only.  Registration and uniform fees will not be refunded.  Refunds will not be issued to any student higher than the rank of white belt.

BATHROOMS
Students are permitted to use the bathroom at any time.  Please tell your child to let their instructor know before they go.  Spectators and siblings are not permitted to use the bathrooms during class times.  However, between classes if spectators/siblings use the bathroom, they must remove shoes first.

WAITING ROOM
Our waiting room is provided as a courtesy for those spectators who must stay.  Never leave your children unattended in the waiting room.  Spectators are welcome to sit in the waiting room and observe classes quietly.  Please control your children and keep them quiet (bringing an activity for siblings is a good idea).  Children should not play and/or run around in the waiting room.  We encourage parents/caregivers to drop off students whenever possible.  While classes are in session, spectators should never enter the training rooms, wave to children or try to get their attention.  Never open or tap on doors or windows.

BELT PROMOTION TESTS
We hold a formal belt promotion test every three months.  Based on a number of factors, students may or may not be eligible to test.  In order to test, student must a) know all criteria b) have trained consistently with little or no absences c) met the minimum time requirement for that belt and d) be a member in good standing.  Test times are posted on our website at www.brucechung.com approximately one week prior to the test. If your child’s membership has lapsed they will not be eligible to test.

CLASS SCHEDULE
Class schedule is subject to change as students are promoted in rank and based on enrollment.

UNIFORMS/FOOTWEAR
Students must wear a Bruce Chung’s imprinted uniform top or Bruce Chung’s T-shirt, uniform pants and their belt.  Uniforms and T-shirts cannot be returned once worn.  Students may wear non skid socks or indoor Tae Kwon Do shoes (indoor shoes available here) in their class.  If students feet are clean, they are permitted to be barefoot.  Students should change into their indoor shoes when they arrive for class.  Outdoor sneakers/tennis shoes are not allowed in the dojahng.  Remember to write your child’s name on both indoor and outdoor shoes.

HYGIENE
Uniforms should be washed in warm soapy water (no bleach) after class.  Do not wash the belt.  Students should keep finger and toe nails short and clean.  Indoor shoes, socks and bare feet should be kept clean.  Additionally, for those students who spar, please wipe their helmet with a damp cloth and wash mouthguards with warm, soapy water after every class.

JEWELRY
Students should not wear jewelry of any kind (especially earrings) or watches.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS
Students should place their shoes in the shoe racks and carry their jackets into Studio B as they go line up for class.  Instructors will hang up jackets.  Remember to write your child’s name on all belongings including sparring gear – and especially shoes and jackets.  Lost or switched uniforms, belts, and sparring gear will not be replaced free of charge.  Students are responsible for their belongings.  Since many of the children have shoes, jackets, etc. that are exactly alike, it’s difficult for the children to identify which items belong to them.  Please advise them to make sure they’ve picked up their own belongings before leaving.

ADDRESSING INSTRUCTORS
Please refer to Grandmaster Bruce Chung as either Kwan Jahng Nim or Grandmaster Chung, Master Susan Chung as Sah Bum Nim or Master Chung, and black belt instructors as Sah Bum Nim or Kyo Sah Nim.  This is what we teach the students and we need your help to reinforce it.

BOWING
Students should always remember to bow to Grandmaster Chung, Master Chung, Sah Bum Nims, Kyo Sah Nims, those of higher rank, and each other as a sign of respect.  Students should bow upon entering/exiting the dojahng.
